About this test

Aimed at identifying pathogens in post-surgical infections, assisting in effective management and treatment.

Main Infections Detected:

    Various surgical site infections

The SurgeryKEY test provides critical diagnostic insights for surgical site infections (SSIs) across various surgical disciplines, including general surgery. By detecting bacterial and fungal pathogens, it is particularly valuable in culture-negative infections, antibiotic-resistant organisms, and polymicrobial infections, which are often challenging to diagnose using conventional culture methods. This test is especially useful in cases where prior antibiotic use has suppressed microbial growth, making traditional culture-based diagnostics unreliable.

Rapid sequencing using NGS technology, powered by advanced bioinformatics, enables broad microbial identification, detecting over 50,000 bacterial and fungal targets in a single sample. qPCR enables rapid detection of bacterial load and targeted pathogen identification, improving diagnostic sensitivity. The test also screens for 17 antibiotic resistance genes, supporting optimized antimicrobial therapy selection.

Validated for intraoperative and postoperative swab, tissue, and fluid samples, SurgeryKEY includes a sample collection kit and delivers results within 3–5 days, providing clinicians with actionable data to guide surgical infection management and improve patient outcomes.

Interpreting our lab report

Each test includes a detailed laboratory report, providing clinicians with clear, structured data for fast decision-making. These reports include:

  • • List of bacteria and fungi detected in the sample(s)

  • • Identified antibiotic resistance genes

  • • Antimicrobials to consideration for treatment
